| Defining a UNIFORM SUBJECT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
The purpose of USCS is to assign a single,
appropriate classification to EVERY record or document. This provides uniformity when
classifying ANYTHING. Using Infologics' patented USCS in ERS V, the need for
time-consuming, full-text searches is virtually eliminated.
Classifying documents bring together items that have the same subject
and retention value. The classification code structure is linked to all relevant document
management functions, as well as legal and administrative retention requirements.
Selective and timely purging of documents is easily made possible, greatly facilitating
the management of information for both current and prospective use.
The system provides a true interlingual mechanism. Using generic
terminology in a specially oriented hierarchical structure, it directs the user to a
single classification. By arranging "generic terms" in a classified format, the
system provides a single location for each record series.
Users can employ their own personal synonyms to search for documents.
Synonyms make it possible for anyone to use industry jargon, acronyms, company
terminology, or foreign terms. The system "learns" as synonyms are added,
capturing differences in individual perception.
Other Document Management systems are department centric, whereas, with
USCS, ERS V is an enterprise-wide system.
Based on a standard business Chart-of-accounts, our USCS provides
the ability to classify documents in such a way as to be easily retrievable by anyone.
Classifications are used for:
- Searching
- Records Management Policy
- Security
- Disaster Recovery
- Replication Policy
- Version Control Policy
And
USCS reduces search time by 90%!
